Aerial looking down on pale rounded boulders at the water's edge with white water surging between them into deep blue open sea.

Boulders, From Above

Bondi, Sydney · October 2016

DJI Zenmuse X5, 15 millimetres, f 1.7, 1/399 of a second, ISO 130

Water finding every gap at once.

Straight down, the swell stops reading as waves and starts reading as veins — white water pushing into every gap between the boulders and draining back out before the next one arrives. Shot from the Inspire on a morning when the sea was big enough to be interesting and not so big that flying was a bad idea.

Part of The Sydney Coast, a series.
