A male white lion with pale blue eyes stares straight at the camera through a gap in out-of-focus thornbush.

Wildlife

38 photographs

Long-lens encounters — lions through thornbush, giraffes in the rain. Shot at Pumba Game Reserve and wherever the animals are.

The Sydney Opera House sails lit at sunset with the Harbour Bridge arch rising behind, under an orange and teal sky over smoothed harbour water.

Cityscapes

87 photographs

Cities after dark — steel, glass and sodium light, from London to New York.

Long-exposure seawater turned to mist swirls around sandstone boulders below a dark sea wall, a rusted metal post standing upright in the flow.

Landscapes

Big weather and empty places, printed the way they felt.

Aerial photograph of Lake Pukaki at dawn, glassy turquoise water mirroring a pastel sky, mountain ranges layered on the horizon.

Aerial

16 photographs

The world from above — braided rivers, surf lines and cities turned graphic, shot by drone from New Zealand to the Balearics.

Black and white photograph of a Samoyed lying against a black background, head tipped back mid-yawn with its mouth wide open, thick white coat catching the light.

Dogs

14 photographs

Portraits of dogs with the seriousness they deserve.

A surfer carving in the pocket of a breaking wave on the Gold Coast, spray fanning off the board.

Action Sports

Fast subjects, slow shutters, and the split second between.

Night photograph of the small stone Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo, lit low against a deep green-blue sky filled with stars, tussock grass and a low stone wall in the foreground.
