Night Cities
Cities after dark, over five years: London, where I live, and wherever else I was when the light went — New York, Sydney, Budapest, Paris, Vienna, Athens, Singapore. Much of it is long exposure: traffic drawn into ribbons, water flattened into glass, a streetlamp stopped down into a star. A square built for crowds is far better without one, and several of these were made in the gaps — an empty crossing, a red light holding a whole street still.
