Turquoise Study

Ibiza, Spain · June 2022

DJI Mavic Air 2, 5 millimetres, f 2.8, 1/25 of a second, ISO 100

Straight down until the sea stops being a place and becomes a surface.

Point the camera straight down and the Mediterranean stops being scenery. This is a rock shelf a few metres under clear water off Ibiza — but framed without a horizon it becomes colour and texture, closer to a painting than a postcard. The frames I keep from drone flights are almost never the wide ones; they're the ones that stop looking like the ground at all.
