The Sphere

New York · March 2021

1D X Mark II, 26 millimetres, f 22, 15 seconds, ISO 1000

The Sphere stood in the plaza between the towers. It is still standing.

Fritz Koenig's Sphere spent thirty years in the plaza between the original towers and was pulled out of the rubble crushed but in one piece. It was left unrepaired deliberately, and now it sits in Liberty Park with One World Trade directly behind it. Shot at night with the tower lit and the bronze holding just enough light to read. The two things in one frame say more than either does alone.
