Long-exposure sea washing milky-white over sandstone boulders at Bronte, a rusted iron post standing in the flow, the chain-fenced ocean pool and its steps at right, surfers waiting beyond the break and houses on the headland under a heavy grey sky.

Bronte, Under a Heavy Sky

Bronte Baths, Sydney · June 2019

1D X Mark II, 2 seconds, ISO 100

Surfers out, sky undecided.

A long exposure turns the sea to mist around the boulders, with the pool wall on the right taking the swell so the water in front of it goes quiet. The one bright gap in the cloud sits exactly where the surfers are waiting, which I would like to claim as planning. The rusted post survives every photograph of this corner. I have stopped trying to keep it out.
