Luna Park's Ferris wheel spun into concentric rings of golden light by a long exposure, with the Harbour Bridge pylon and steelwork at right under a dusk sky.

The Golden Wheel

Luna Park, Sydney · January 2017

EOS 6D, 24 millimetres, f 18, 20.4 seconds, ISO 100

One full rotation, one frame.

Leave the shutter open long enough and a Ferris wheel stops being a machine and becomes a signature — every lit spoke wound into rings. The trick is the wait: dusk deep enough for the lights to carry, sky still holding blue. The bridge pylon stands at the right edge to remind you which harbour you are at.
