White light trails from night traffic on George Street, Sydney, with the sandstone Queen Victoria Building lit at left.

George Street, Southbound

The QVB, holding its corner since 1898.

Town Hall was at my back for this one; it is the Queen Victoria Building that carries the frame, sandstone lit warm against the towers. A long shutter turned the George Street traffic into ribbons running south past the crossing. City corners like this are mostly waiting — for the green light, for a clean run of cars, for nobody to stop in the lane.
