View from inside a sea cave looking out through its mouth to a tall rock headland, with boats on choppy turquoise water and daylight beyond the dark cave walls.

Out of the Cave

July 2017

1D X Mark II, 47 millimetres, f 6.3, 1/1000 of a second, ISO 100

The frame was already there.

Shooting from inside a cave is mostly a problem of exposure — the rock wants to be black and the opening wants to be blown out, and somewhere in the middle there is a version where both hold. The arch does all the composition work; I just had to not get in its way.
