An Icelandic horse's face hidden behind a long tangled chestnut forelock, one dark eye just visible through the hair, against black.

Under the Mane

The weather system, worn as a fringe.

An Icelandic horse carries its weatherproofing on the outside — a forelock grown long enough to break wind and sleet before either reaches the face. Head-on, in low light, that mane becomes a curtain with one dark eye behind it. I let everything else fall to black. The breed has stood in worse than this for a thousand years.
