A cobbled street in the South Street Seaport after snowfall, ploughed snow heaped along the kerb, red-brick warehouses and fire escapes, strings of lights overhead, the Fulton Market sign at right, the Brooklyn Bridge crossing the gap between the buildings, and a lone figure in a long black coat walking away from the camera.

The Seaport, After Snow

South Street Seaport, New York · February 2021

1D X Mark II, 100 millimetres, f 4.5, 1/1000 of a second, ISO 100

The bridge, between the buildings, as usual.

The old seaport with its cobbles under fresh snow, and the Brooklyn Bridge doing what it does from this end of the street, which is fill the gap between the warehouses. The figure walking away gives it a direction. Strings of lights overhead, ploughed snow along the kerb, and a soft, slightly faded colour that felt right for the oldest streets in the city.
