A red London bus dissolved into streaks of red, white and blue light as it passes a grand stone façade at night, a lamp post cutting through the foreground, the Dilly hotel sign and car headlights further down the street.

The Bus, Passing

Piccadilly, London · August 2021

A whole bus, reduced to a smear.

A phone photograph, and an exposure just long enough that the bus becomes colour rather than a vehicle. The stone façade behind stays sharp because it was not going anywhere, and the lamp post in the foreground cuts the frame in two. Red against teal, which is a combination London does at night without being asked.
