Warm hazy photograph of successive alpine ridgelines receding into the distance, each one paler than the last, with a snow-covered foreground slope in shadow at the bottom of the frame.

Five ridges, each one paler than the one in front.

Atmospheric haze doing the job a lens never can: five ridgelines stacked back into the distance, each one a stop lighter than the one in front, until the last is barely separable from the sky. Long lens to compress them right up against each other. The dark foreground slope along the bottom is there purely to give the eye somewhere to start.

Part of The Alps in Winter, a series.
