Walk the Hooker Track to its end and this is the payoff: Aoraki standing over its glacial lake, calved ice drifting in water the colour of wet concrete. Stitched as a panorama because no single frame held both the mountain and the ice. Cold, restrained, and exactly why the South Island keeps pulling me back.
