A snow-covered alpine valley at night, the scattered lights of a village glowing gold across the valley floor, dark pine forest on the slopes and a wall of snow-covered peaks against a cloudy, faintly moonlit sky.

The Valley, Lit

Every light in the valley, and the mountain over all of them.

An exposure long enough that the cloud smears across the peaks and the village lights bloom into small stars. From up here the valley reads as a map: the road a chain of gold, the houses in clusters, the dark forest holding it all in place. The snow on the peaks is lit by nothing but the sky, which is why it stays blue.
