Bush-clad hills and headlands receding into pale mist under a pink and apricot sky, the ripples of a boat's wake spreading across still water in the foreground and catching the colour of the sky.

The Wake, and the Hills

August 2020

Leaving, slowly.

From the stern of a boat, looking back along its wake. The water is flat enough that the wake is the only texture, and it carries the pink of the sky a long way. The hills go back in four or five shades of blue-green, each one softer than the last, until the furthest is barely there. No drama in it. That was the appeal.
